Datapipe Wins NJBIA Environmental Quality Award
New Jersey Business & Industry Association recognizes Datapipe’s ongoing commitment to sustainability
Jersey City, N.J. – October 19, 2011 – A lot of companies talk about sustainability, but for Datapipe, a leading provider of managed services and infrastructure for IT and cloud computing, sustainability is more than just marketing. Data centers tend to be substantial power users. Utilizing green energy to power them is both challenging and expensive. Rather than doing the minimum required to gain “green” status, Datapipe is committed to being 100 percent carbon neutral whenever and wherever possible.
The New Jersey Business & Industry Association (NJBIA) has recognized Datapipe’s commitment to sustainability with an Environmental Quality award. One of the NJBIA Awards for Excellence, the Environmental Quality Award is presented annually to a company that has done outstanding work to preserve or enhance the quality of the environment in New Jersey.
“Datapipe, Inc. is a great example of the vision and entrepreneurialism that our Awards for Excellence winners display,” NJBIA President Philip Kirschner said. “Datapipe’s commitment to using renewable energy is outstanding and will improve our environment for years to come.”
In early 2011 Datapipe, announced that it is now powering all of its US data centers with 100 percent renewable energy. This makes Datapipe the only IT company in New Jersey and one of only 13 nationwide to be a member of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Green Power Leadership Club.
“Datapipe is honored to win this year’s NJBIA Environmental Quality Award,” said Robb Allen, Datapipe CEO. “New Jersey is our home. Going 100 percent carbon neutral is the right thing to do for our kids, our communities and our state. We continue to encourage and support sustainable initiatives in the IT industry worldwide.”
Datapipe offers a single provider solution for managing and securing mission-critical IT services, including cloud computing, infrastructure as a service, platform as a service, colocation and data centers. Datapipe delivers those services from the world’s most influential technical and financial markets including New York metro, Silicon Valley, London, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
About NJBIA’s Awards for Excellence Program
Since 1984, NJBIA annually has honored a select group of its members with an Award for Excellence. The Awards for Excellence winners demonstrate outstanding achievements in one of four award categories: Business Expansion, Environmental Quality, Outstanding Employer, and Public Service. All 22,000 NJBIA member companies in good standing are eligible to be nominated. The winners are selected by an independent panel of judges, who volunteer their time to conduct the judging. This year’s judging panel was comprised of individuals from the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) and representatives from NJBIA member companies.
