If you’re a budget-conscious traveler, you may have heard of is an online travel agency that offers online booking for over 39,000 quality and affordable vacation properties all over the world, including hostels, hotels, campsites, and apartments. The website has grown steadily since its inception in 1999 and currently receives over one million unique visitors per month. This growth, combined with the massive changes the online travel agency industry has experienced in recent years, meant that needed to reassess its IT infrastructure to stay competitive.

In the past,’s partners manually updated the availability and pricing of their inventory once a day. However, in recent years, partners have switched to updating the system in real-time to avoid double booking. This led to an increased load on’s infrastructure, inundating the system with as much as 300 to 400 requests per minute during peak holiday season. The summer months were an even bigger strain, with the load on the infrastructure increasing by nearly 2,000 percent. needed an infrastructure that could grow with it, so the company turned to the cloud, and it asked Datapipe to guide the transition.

With Datapipe’s expertise, moved its infrastructure to an Amazon Web Services’ (AWS) cloud-based solution. This move has freed from the manual intervention the previous infrastructure required and better positioned the company for future growth.
