At Datapipe, we are constantly prioritizing client needs, adjusting our own business strategy based on what they need to be most successful. Today, we made an announcement that illustrates this commitment. I’m excited to announce we will be opening a new data center in Moscow, Russia to expand our growing presence in Europe. Designed in part to accommodate the increasing demand for e-commerce throughout Russia, the new state-of-the-art data center will provide our enterprise clients with additional global reach, scale, and organizational agility across the European region.
Here’s why we decided on Moscow: In 2015, 30 million online shoppers in Russia generated an estimated 148 million orders. With 160 million small packages delivered to consumers in 2015, up 10 percent from the previous year, Russia’s domestic online retail market is growing in real terms. The strategic location of our new center in Moscow lets global enterprises operate and sell in Russia while abiding by the country’s data sovereignty laws. In addition, it will continue our global expansion allowing our clients to take advantage of the rapidly growing e-commerce industry in Russia. In fact, enterprises have been coming to us in anticipation of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. This expansion enables Datapipe to more effectively partner with them and meet their needs for the upcoming event.
The new facility is the fifth world-class data center in the Datapipe Europe network, and is now the 21st data center in our network across the globe. Clients can move data efficiently and securely between each Datapipe Europe location and all the other facilities in the global Datapipe network.
