ScreenScape makes software that helps businesses connect and control screens over the Internet through a simple plug and play device that allows customers to turn any screen into a connected digital sign. Once a screen is connected it can be updated, monitored, and managed over the Internet using ScreenScape.com.
Brand marketers and retail networks use the technology to publish digital signage content on screens inside their stores. Health clinics, university campuses, and other kinds of venues use it to engage and entertain their visitors. It’s part of a growing technology arena called place-based media that is rapidly turning TV screens outside the home into location-specific media channels.
In 2014, ScreenScape was going through a significant amount of growth themselves. The company’s existing hosting provider made it difficult for ScreenScape to make necessary changes to its virtual IT environment in a timely and cost-effective manner. Datapipe took over the management of ScreenScape’s Amazon Cloud Front CDN deployment and also added a private cloud solution to double the company’s infrastructure and provide cloud diversity. By taking advantage of a diverse solution that combines AWS Cloud Front, AWS Direct Connect, and Datapipe’s Stratosphere Private Cloud, ScreenScape is now able to move all of its applications and services to the new environment in a manner completely transparent to its customers, with the added benefit of significantly lower cost.
Doubling your infrastructure to simplify product delivery and eliminate costs may sound counterintuitive. However, by leveraging a multi-cloud environment, ScreenScape is able to provision physical resources and optimize allocation of virtual machines to ensure a consistent, high level of streaming media to its customers.
