How to use a cloud diverse solution to improve uptime

As a sales leader who is focused on cloud solutions for the enterprise and dedicated to customer satisfaction, nothing makes me happier than hearing the success stories of our Datapipe customers. Today I want to examine one of my personal favorites.

ScreenScape makes software that helps businesses connect and control screens over the Internet through a simple plug and play device that allows customers to turn any screen into a connected digital sign. Once a screen is connected it can be updated, monitored, and managed over the Internet using ScreenScape.com.

Brand marketers and retail networks use the technology to publish digital signage content on screens inside their stores. Health clinics, university campuses, and other kinds of venues use it to engage and entertain their visitors. It’s part of a growing technology arena called place-based media that is rapidly turning TV screens outside the home into location-specific media channels.

In 2014, ScreenScape was going through a significant amount of growth themselves. The company’s existing hosting provider made it difficult for ScreenScape to make necessary changes to its virtual IT environment in a timely and cost-effective manner. ScreenScape knew it could not meet time and budget goals – nor deliver updates transparently to customers – by working with their existing hosting provider, so they turned to Datapipe to build a better solution.

The solution was a highly available, fully managed, and scalable cloud infrastructure. Datapipe took over the management of ScreenScape’s Amazon Cloud Front CDN deployment and also added a private cloud solution to double the company’s infrastructure and provide cloud diversity. By taking advantage of a diverse solution that combines AWS Cloud Front, AWS Direct Connect, and Datapipe’s Stratosphere Private Cloud, ScreenScape is now able to move all of its applications and services to the new environment in a manner completely transparent to its customers, with the added benefit of significantly lower cost.

Doubling your infrastructure to simplify product delivery and eliminate costs may sound counterintuitive. However, by leveraging a multi-cloud environment, ScreenScape is able to provision physical resources and optimize allocation of virtual machines to ensure a consistent, high level of streaming media to its customers. Working with an experienced and trusted partner is key to developing a strategy and implementing the cloud infrastructure that is best for your company – now and as it continues to grow.

As Ryan Mann, Operations Architect at ScreenScape said, “It gives me peace of mind to know that Datapipe has a full suite of services at my disposal. I may not know which way ScreenScape’s infrastructure may expand in the future, but I do know that Datapipe has multiple options to help me move forward. When it comes time to grow to the next level, we’ll be ready with Datapipe as our partner.”
